A health food restaurant is coming to Urbana.

Downtown Nutrition, at 221 N. Main St., is scheduled to open later this month.

Owners Mike and Sammie Ropp said it was time to move back home to be with family.

The city is a big part of the couple’s story, Sammie Ropp said.

“I grew up in a tiny town outside of Springfield called South Charleston and he grew up in a tiny town outside Urbana called West Liberty, so this was kind of the middle ground,” she said.

James Carl Hupman received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award on Wednesday in a surprise ceremony at the Champaign Aviation Museum. This credential is awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration to individuals who have exhibited professionalism, skill and aviation expertise for at least 50 years while piloting aircraft.

Nearly 50 family members, friends and fellow pilots crowded into the aviation library before 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Dana Booghier, president of the Champaign County Pilots Association, praised them all for their ability to keep a secret. Unfortunately, Hupman had been asked to undertake a last minute flight to Baltimore, so he was 15 minutes late for his own award ceremony.
